The UK is ready to advance with utilizing the total value of immobilized Russia's holdings to support Ukraine's military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this unified step would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to come to the table.

They further noted that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the America.

UK sanctions have frozen more than £25bn of Russia's funds since the Russian government began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, funds sent to Ukraine using Russia's funds had solely been drawn from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to drive progress toward utilizing the complete amount of the immobilized Moscow's national holdings to end the war.

He added that additional sanctions over the next period would heighten the tension on Russia.

This declaration follows European officials met in the Danish capital previously to discuss utilizing seized Russian holdings for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to take or utilize immobilized Russia's assets, based on media sources.

The total of immobilized Russia's funds in the European Union is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages the United Kingdom's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the Purl programme

Russia carried out extensive missile and drone strikes all over the Ukrainian territory on Friday, causing electricity outages in significant regions of Kyiv, Kyiv, and multiple additional areas.

A pair of individuals were fatally injured and a minimum of 20 people were injured in the attack, Ukrainian officials stated.

In a update on X after the incident, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What's needed is not just talk but firm measures - from the United States, Europe, and the seven nations - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing penalties," he emphasized.

"Each restrictive measure undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the PURL programme, under which alliance members buy arms from the United States to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the UK's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as apply more measures on the Russian Federation.
