A extended journey circling the Australian Coast is being halted following the death of an senior lady who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the party for a rest. The vessel sailed away leaving her and came back several hours later after the personnel discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

A large-scale hunt found her remains the following day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, alongside investigators and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator stated that travelers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the rest of the voyage had been called off due to the "tragic passing and earlier engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he added that travelers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the travel back of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also issued an revised announcement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Commander" preventing any further travelers from getting on the vessel.

The official said that they would inspect the liner in Cairns upon its return.

Chronology of Incidents

The ship first departed Cairns on October 24th, and was merely two days into the expedition at the point of the elderly woman's passing. Lizard Island was the opening port on the journey.

Travelers on the vessel - who generally pay substantial amounts of currency to join the voyage - were transported there for a shore visit with the possibility of trekking or snorkelling.

The offspring of the victim said that her loved ones was "shocked and saddened that the ship left the island after an organised tour without my parent".

In her statement, she characterized her mother as an "active elderly person" who was a member of a bushwalking organization.

"Based on limited facts we have been informed, it seems that there was a breakdown of responsibility and common sense," she said.

She further stated that she hoped the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have performed that might have protected Mum's being".

"Based on information from the police that it was a exceptionally warm period, and mum became unwell on the uphill trek," she revealed.

"She was asked her to return, without accompaniment. Then the vessel departed, reportedly without performing a headcount.

"At a certain moment in that chain of events, or shortly after, mum passed away, without company."

Operator Position

Via official communication, the CEO verified that the operator was "working closely with officials to support their examination".

He said that the firm was "extremely apologetic that this has transpired" and had extended its total backing to the family.

Maritime Business Procedures

The liner serves up to one hundred twenty travelers with 46 crew, according to official details. It was specifically designed to enter remote locations of the Australian coastline and is outfitted with "small boats" - minor craft used to transport individuals on land visits.

Incidents of this nature are uncommon, and passenger vessels have systems to record which individuals are embarking or leaving, according to industry experts.
