19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
